I'm saying the semantics of the CLI itself could be different if they were designed differently.

you're a typical home user who knows how to do incredibly basic things. there's nothing wrong with that, but it does mean you should keep your fucking mouth shut when it comes to technical stuff and you have no place criticizing people who only know slightly less than you do.
Everything in DOS is incredibly basic; why bother learning it unless I'm using it for something. As an example, I had to set up a static IP to host games, I figured out how to do that with written instructions.

Also, I am not criticizing those people beneath me, rather I am defending them; I want it to be as easy as possible for those people to be able to learn about computers so they do become smarter about computers - that can't happen if there's some leech stacking the cards against them.

I agree, as a basic home user who doesn't know shit there's no reason for you to ever touch the command line. You're in here posing as a power user, denouncing anyone who isn't as computer literate as you, anyone with that attitude should at least know how to use the fucking shell.

You've been using Windows for at least 7 years and you still have no fucking idea what you're doing, why do you hold everyone else to a higher standard than yourself?

There's no reason for me to ever touch the command line? Lol, it's saved me from countless viruses, I use it to be able to host games, blah blah blah.
I think the real reason you're so defensive is because you don't like feeling like your trade isn't special or unique.

I can do all sorts of shit on a computer that a lot of my peers are clueless about. Me and my best friends in highschool were the "computer guys"; we were the guys showing everyone how to get on game sites in the computer labs using proxies; sending messages to every computer in the school simultaneously using the command line; playing N64 games in the computer lab with emulators on flash drives; when we took webpage design and the other kids were having brain farts over the concept of an HTML tag, we were showing the teacher javascript. blah blah blah
