i swear to god i'm not, i denounce my ego right now, i'm a pathetic lazy piece of shit blah blag blah
but honestly, i'd be many times dumber if i never went on the internet. Everything i know about pharmacology wouldnt have happened without the internet. I just can't see myself taking the initiative to go to a library or something and actually learn about pharmacology if the internet hadn't sparked my thirst for knowledge to begin with
and think whatever you want to me, but free, reliable, accurate, information on the internet might all disappear in the near future. We could have had a golden age of information, where anything about everything was at your fingertips. Want to be able to safely synthesize DMT out of crude ingredients? boom that information was right there on the internet so long as you were motivated enough to sift through it. Want to learn how to make your own remote control experimental aircraft out of simple supplies? on the internet. Want to know what supplies you'd need to live completely off the grid? its on the internet. Want to get all the things you'd need and be able to feel educated and confident in what you need if there was ever a massive disaster? its on the internet
now, its all going to be lost in a bad way. You'll have to commit yourself to debt to gain any amount of expertise in even one area of study. I used to go to this local university's library and check out books there on physics and whatever, because it was usually a lot higher quality than shit online and i wouldnt have to sift through bullshit.. That university's library actually completely flooded 2 summers ago, the only time in living memory this city has ever had a flood. All those books are destroyed. But they've got books on their computer system
there is no substitute for the way people used to teach things like physics and chemistry and mathematics a few decades ago, like those books did. Now its all watered-down community college crap; "leave the real thinking up to the corporations"
