welp for starters i've never used a sprayer i brush and roll everything i do and i don't wear a respirator either because i don't have to, i'm never removing lead or asbestos. and i paint metal all the time dumbass lol

depends on the application, if its a new metal door thats been primed you just need to put a oil based primer on it before painting with latex (light sand before and after for better adhesion) then finish in latex exterior with at least a satin sheen.

for metal roofs you have to check all the mastic (tar) joints as you go or you'll have leaks eventually then paint with appropriate oil or alkyd paint.

for cars/boats/other vehicles:
and if i cant do it with that i pay someone who specializes in bodywork.

for metal ceiling supports in industrial buildings i sub those out and charge more so i make money for not having to choke on paint fumes wearing a respirator because i'm white not some mexican faggot lol.
