god damnit i should have never mentioned i've worked at walmart before there is such a stigma attached to it, i have no comebacks... although there are two types of people in this world, people who can work at walmart and have no problem with it and be oblivious to the fact that employment at walmart is like special education for adults;

That's actually not my idea, I'm not sure where you got that. They hire people because it's cheaper than automating everything. If suddenly human employees cost more than machines, the human employees will be replaced with machines. Look, I'm not saying that's what I want. The reason there is an excess of minimum wage workers right now is because:
A) large corporations cut out as many of their middle class jobs as they could.
B) urban population is exploding faster than those people have places for them in the world

Now heres what I do want; stores like walmart and mcdonalds do try to push their employees as if it is a real job.. Working at places like those isn't like it was a few decades ago when it was just a bunch of high school punks, slacking off and reading magazines and whatever most of their shift. Now, upper management tries to squeeze every percentage of efficiency they can out of bottom barrel workers and make them stay competitive with each other so those workers trick themselves into thinking that their status in the company is something they've earned and worth holding on to.

When you make cuts on the number of employees in middle management, you tend to see a burst in efficiency of those at the bottom of the chain. Instead of protesting the injustice of the cuts, it actually causes the workers to paradoxically work even harder in an effort to show their worth, ultimately leading to competitiveness amongst workers, and a rise in productivity.
