    A similar corporate philosophy you may have heard of is called the "rank and yank" corporate philosophy. Employees are scored against each other based on performance and productivity, and the lowest scoring employees are cut.. This causes a self-perpetuating boost in efficiency and productivity; due to competitiveness. It also has the drawback of turning employees into manipulative ass-kissers or backstabbing parasites; especially when there is no more additional work or room for improvement, but employees still feel compelled to work harder for fear of being scored lower than their peers; this can end in disaster for the company, which ends up resembling the Winchester mansion - always having to be built upon even if the new additions are pointless.
