    If poor management caused total socioeconomic collapse, the great lakes area would be the best possible place to be. A lot of people who live around there still live and maintain the "old ways" (the time before microwaves and refrigerators), or at very least know how to return to the old ways should the need arise. There is no safer place to be in the US really
