You obviously don't know Geto Boys. That song was done many years before OS. They were extremely, extremely popular among the west coast in the 80's/90's. Matter of fact that song hit the top of charts, and held it's place for a long time.

    So, yeeeeeeaaaaahhhh.......

They never charted any higher than 23, they're one hit wonders and office space is the only reason they had their one hit

Which is exactly why Scarface is so unpopular, even to this day?

    Yeah, sure.

yeah there's never been an example of a successful artist who started out in a band which experienced mediocre popularity, that has literally never happened before

The majority of those going independent got whatever fame they did have from their origins.

    Look at NWA - Easy E/Ice Cube/Dre.
Look at Grandmaster Flash back in the early 80's.
    Look at Run DMC.
Look at artists like Chuck D and Slick Rick.

NWA, Grandmaster Flash, and Run DMC were all huge. geto boys weren't. They never made an impact on the general public. Their only mainstream exposure was a 2 minute clip in a movie from 20 years ago.

Rap nerds are even worse than rock nerds 'omg you don't know the lyrics to thrak by king crimson what were you raised in a cave?? don't you know how influential they were in the progressive rock scene?? blah blah blah about time shifting and genre defying and other nonsense 99% of the music buying audience doesn't care about'

Which is exactly why Geto Boys had such a large cultural impact on west-coast hip hop, right?

That's basically like saying Dilated Peoples never made an impact either.
