    that's if you're in tech. if you go are general manager in operations or like finance of some company and you're willing to move every so often you can advance up the corporate ladder pretty nicely and once you get to a certain level of seniority you're kind of always in demand so if you notice the company isn't doing well you cant get the hell out of there.. programmers at least in my perspective have a good lifestyle because they can do a lot of work remotely. if you're in general management theres a lot of BS going around like having facetime with your bosses/superiors/clients...meaningless business trips etc...which programmers don't necessarily do.

    programmers can't rely on bullshit and social skills kind of like general management/sales can. you either know how to do a task efficiently or you don't and you get berated by someone who has no fucking idea how to do what you're doing.
