it doesn't require more government. the apparatus is already there, it exists currently.

using your own example of the mobs during prohibition, it led to the creation of a whole new federal arm of law enforcement, the fbi, currently employs 35,000 people on your dime, and the RICO statutes which strengthen the powers of law enforcement agencies and the office of the prosecutor. it sure took a lot of new government and a lot of new government power to solve a problem that new government created.

i assumed you were going to bring this up. a lot of the people who joined the fbi were actually already employed by the united states government in some form of law enforcement, they were already there.

but what i wanted to show you were some numbers.

    mexico:

    • 128 million people
      760,000 sq mi
      500,000 police
1 cop for every 256 people
1 cop for every 1.52 square miles

    united states:

    • 326 million people
      3,800,000 sq mi
      765,000 police
1 cop for every 426 people
1 cop for every 4.96 square miles

mexico has practically double the police force per capita and per square mile coverage that the united states does. aside from that, mexico border patrol and full time active military are also used basically as police agents against drug involved persons. when i've been to mexico, i get harassed by the military constantly. they have no qualm with using their military against the population. so that actually means they have even more police units per sq. mi. and population.

but still they fail. corruption, ignorance, plain incompetence. hispanics are about 8 IQ points dumber, on average, than whites... maybe they just cant figure it out and keep throwing numbers at the problem

this is the safest time in american history, crime especially violent crime is at an all time low the wars we keep starting haven't come back to bite us in the ass yet, everything alright, but still we live in fear, maybe more than ever, and everyone even reasonable people are screaming together with one voice 'please daddy government, please protect me, please kiss my boo boos and read me a story and tell me the mean brown people won't hurt me anymore' and they're giving the feds unprecedented new powers and joyfully doing their part to build and strengthen their real enemy

violent crime was lower and then started to rise in the 60's:

    hmm interesting:

Emigration from Mexico began timidly about a century ago, but experienced a significant increase since the 1960s.
