no you don't. you pay half as much but you sacrifice 5-10% of performance and 40% longevity.
unless you're trying to build a server. unless you're trying to build a specialized office machine which is a pain in the balls to configure. Unless you're trying to build anything that isn't a gaming pc or a home desktop, pretty much. You don't have any sort of experience other than your dinky little home setup so stop pretending that what works for you is applicable in every scenario. Shut the fuck up.

I maintain a server which runs at 80% utilization 24/7 and has been doing so for 15 years. It's able to do that because it runs a Xeon. Remember when I said "You don't have any sort of experience other than your dinky little home setup so stop pretending that what works for you is applicable in every scenario."? And then I told you to shut the fuck up? Remember that? Do it.
No, and in fact AMD would be fine for him. You're not just talking about tim, though, you're all 'DURR INTEL IS STUPID CUZ IT COSTS MORE THERES NO REASON TO EVER BUY INTEL' you sound like an asswipe and you're wrong.

unless you're trying to build some top-end machine with an unnoticeable increase in performance there is no reason to ever buy intel

unless you're trying to build some top-end machine with an unnoticeable increase in performance
OR
you need a machine to run reliably for many years
OR
you need it to run cooler/quieter than an AMD is capable of
OR
you're upgrading a system which already runs intel and you don't want to reinstall the OS or rebuild the HAL
OR
you have an application which utilizes intel specific features
OR
a thousand other reasons

did you assemble this pc yourself? maybe you simply fucked up applying thermal grease, and it has dry rot on the inside from bubbles. run something actually good like open hardware monitor to measure temps
does a stress test try to probe all of the instruction sets? maybe you have an aberration with just one of them and you can disable it. the operations still get done they just get done with compatibility code in the core of the OS instead of being executed directly
