I kept her for as long as it was humane, probably a bit longer. I kept her alive for longer than the vet recommended (she wasn't expected to live as long as she did once she was sick) but in the end she was just suffering. It was the hardest call I had to make but she was over 20 years old which is like 100 human years for a cat. She was collapsing and needing water brought to her constantly and was down to just 3kgs in spite of me trying to get her eat as much as possible. I bought her the very best treats I could find, cat milk and tuna fillets and everything else. Gave her as much as she would eat, played her special cat music and had the vet make a house visit so she could die in her favorite spot. Even the vet nearly cried and was all teared up. He said I did an amazing job looking after her. I did the best thing I could for her before she suffered even more.

I did though, I go overboard spoiling my animals. That's the beauty of animals. You can spoil them as much you like and they don't turn into dicks like people do.
